The L.A. Lakers’ search for a new head coach continues and one name that seems to be mentioned more than others is current Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse.

Nurse has won a championship with the Raptors back in 2019 and he was also named NBA Coach of the Year in 2020.

He might be the ideal guy for the Lakers, but don’t think for a second that the Raptors would let Nurse go that easily. Raptors president and vice-chairman Masai Ujiri said Tuesday, the Lakers can dream all they want, but Nurse isn’t going anywhere.

“I dream like they dream,” Ujiri said. “I want Messi. I want Ronaldo. I want Kobe Bryant. So they will keep dreaming. I dream too.”

He may be right. However, the Lakers have the money and the players to prey away Nurse if they wanted. They also have the tradition and pedigree, something that the Raptors don’t have. They could make Nurse’s Hollywood dreams come true.

Who wouldn’t want to go out to the West Coast to sunny Southern California to coach such a storied franchised as the Lakers with one of the greatest players of all time on your roster in LeBron James?

It might be a hard gig to turn down for Nick Nurse, no matter what Ujiri says.
