NBA legend Ray Allen has more experience around LeBron James than most, playing alongside the megastar during the 2012-13 NBA season when the pair won an NBA championship with the Miami Heat.
Apparently, that championship season was not enough to convince Allen that James is the greatest player of all time. Allen seemingly feels so strongly about this point that he felt the need to argue it to a group of fans. And his reasoning is nothing short of baffling.

“Is he a great free throw shooter? Is he a great three-point shooter? Is he a great dribbler?” Allen asked. “So you’re saying he’s the GOAT and he ain’t even the greatest in all those categories.”
Allen then walked away without waiting for a response from the group of fans. We don’t know the full context of the quote or who Allen does believe is the greatest player of all time if it’s not James since the video only provides us a brief portion of the debate.
However, Allen’s argument is an especially perplexing argument considering many of those reasons would also disqualify other candidates from the GOAT conversation like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, neither of whom are considered among the best shooters or dribblers of all time. The argument would also disqualify other all-time great big men like Shaquille O’Neal or Kareem Adbul-Jabaar.
Since Allen is considered one of the greatest shooters of all time, that might be affecting his reasoning on this point. But if neither James nor Jordan fit his definition of the greatest, perhaps Allen might need to change his definition.
