Scotty Pippen Jr. is looking to make his own mark in the NBA now that he’s signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. Turns out, he’s also going to separate himself from his famous father by calling him out over fake injuries from their one-on-one games.

Pippen Jr., son of Hall of Fame forward Scottie Pippen, was asked if he’s played his dad one-on-one recently. Junior said that it’s been “two, three years” since he’s gone head-to-head with the Chicago Bulls legend because his dad stopped playing him.

“I was wearing him out,” said Scotty, per Lakers writer Kyle Goon. “I used to beat him, and he would fake injuries and stuff. He wouldn’t give me the credit so we stopped playing a while ago.”

Ouch.

You can see the playful comment here at the 2:15 mark.

The elder Pippin has developed a reputation for being bitter and unappreciated in recent years and, while the quote was clearly meant to be playful, it certainly seems to back up that assertion.

It’s going to be a pretty interesting scenario for Pippen, Jr. this season. If he ends up playing for the Lakers this season, he could be playing alongside Shareef O’Neal, son of team legend Shaquille O’Neal, and he would be playing alongside LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis. So while he might not get to play against the legend that he’s related to, he’ll be playing amongst from pretty big names.
