On Friday, Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett criticized Steph Curry for charging more than $2,000 for a summer camp, thereby pricing out about 95% of kids who might want to participate.

Well, Curry fired back Monday… sort of. In classic too-cool-for-school, doesn’t-really-care-about-anything fashion, Curry alluded to Bennett’s comments in an Instagram post promoting his brother’s comparatively cheap camp.

Maybe this was the plan all along? Steph is just over-charging for his own camp to get people to go learn from his brother?

In all seriousness though, it’s cool that Bennett brought this up. More and more, success in sports comes down to whose family can afford the best coaches, travel teams and summer camps, and it would be cool to see Steph or any NBA star take a more for-the-people approach to these camps.

Steph would probably argue that kids who can’t afford his camp aren’t altogether shut out because they can learn from his brother (or another less starry NBA player) at a more reasonable rate, and maybe that’s fair. At some point it’s up to a player to determine whether he wants his product to be accessible or not.

But we’ve learned one thing unequivocally: If you throw shots at Steph, he will respond with some kind of subtle, sarcastic comment that suggests he cares a little, but not too much.
