LeBron James still hasn’t announced where he will play next season after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since announcing that he would be hitting the free agency market for the fourth time in his career, three franchises have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the NBA’s all-time leading scorer: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Cavs, with whom he started his NBA career, have started to gain momentum as the frontrunners, and rumors have even begun circulating that his son, Bronny, who is currently on the Lakers’ roster, will join him in Northeast, OH.
However, a potential pairing with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, who has set himself up to take a paycut in order to help the franchise attrack James, may be his best chance to win a fifth NBA title before retiring.
It’s something that isn’t wasted on Curry, who was asked about what his pitch to James is on Thursday.
“This is kind of up to him. I feel like any place he’s called and said I want to play there, you move mountains to make it happen,” Curry said.

“The pitch is: Do you want to play good basketball and be around people who know how to play the game? Raise our floor, our competitiveness this year. There’s good golf in the Bay.”

“And I know we’re in that boat as well. So the pitch is you want to play good basketball, be around people that know how to play the game, hopefully, you know, raise our floor on our competitiveness this year. There’s good golf in the Bay.
“Um, but, you know, we’re an organization that’s been there. He knows that, and that’s really self-explanatory. It’s just a matter of where he sees himself fitting, and at the end of the day, that’s up to him.”
It’s hard to imagine James signing with the franchise that he battled against in the Finals for so long in his second stint with the Cavs, but it would make for a special ending if he could retire after winning a title, à la Michael Jordan.
