Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker received terrible news about his groin injury on Wednesday.

The Suns announced that Booker, who ranks 12th in the NBA in points per game with 27.1, will miss the next four weeks. Their team account tweeted, “INJURY UPDATE: Further evaluation has confirmed that Devin Booker sustained a left groin strain. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks.”

Booker is one of the league’s most prolific scorers. The former Kentucky standout recently dropped 58 points in a 118-114 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Suffice it to say that the Suns enjoy the company of their biggest star but that star has unfortunately burned out for a month.

Phoenix is 20-15 this season through their first 35 games. They sit 5th in the Western Conference, which is currently led by Denver. Over the next month, the Suns will play some of the best teams in the NBA. Games against the Nuggets, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and Brooklyn Nets are all on the ledger. This news means that they will have to tough it out without their star man.

The NBA world reacted to the horrible injury news on Wednesday.

Basketball writer Mark Schindler wrote, “Well this sucks. Hope he’s able to recover well and keep right while he’s rehabbing.”

Sports Illustrated’s Ashley Nicole Moss called it “terrible news” for both Phoenix fans and basketball fans.

Michael Waterloo, fantasy writer for The Athetlic, called Devin Booker’s injury a “bruuutal loss.”

Arizona area writer Adam Green said there were “Kevin Johnson vibes” about the oft-injured star.

Thunder writer Kade Kimble commented on the injury, saying, “The West is too close for this to happen. Tough blow for the Suns here.”

Lastly, Chris Walder called it a “major blow” for the Suns.
