Tanner Ainge is the son of former NBA star and current Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, and he’s also running for Congress in Utah.

How do you sound relatable and non-robotic as a politician? You talk with the locals about their sports team. So at least for right now, Ainge is a big Utah Jazz fan.

Unfortunately, the Jazz are are trying to keep star Gordon Hayward from being poached by Ainge’s dad’s team. Tanner is apparently choosing politics and his home state over his family, tweeting to Hayward about a “millionaire’s tax” in Massachusetts.

Is this political pandering? Definitely! But it seems it might work anyway.

We’ll see if Danny Ainge gives in to help his son a bit in his race for Congress.
