Global pop sensation Taylor Swift is set to marry Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce this summer at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Since the pair began dating, the NFL has heavily promoted Swift’s attendance at Kelce’s games, and sure enough, many of her fans now root for Kelce and the Chiefs just as hard as Swift does.

Swift’s massive impact on the NFL is evident in the numbers.

“Since Swift’s attendance in September, the Chiefs have experienced record sales attendance and viewership. In total, Taylor Swift has generated a whopping $331.5 million through TV, in online, radio, and print media exposure,” Katie Lever wrote for Awful Announcing in 2024. “Kelce’s net worth and social media presence have risen sharply and numbers across the NFL are at an all-time high.”

Last week, Swift made an appearance at MSG not for a wedding rehearsal, but rather Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Swift sat courtside, wearing an iconic blue and orange T-shirt reading “Stevie Knicks,” a play on popular singer Stevie Nicks’ name. Swift sat with two members of the popular band HAIM, who wore similar “Knickleback” and “Knickole Kidman” shirts.

Once again, Swift’s influence over sports culture, only this time the NBA rather than the NFL, was proven. The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 to win the Finals 4-1, and in the aftermath of the victory, shirts like Swift’s have been seen everywhere.

Kelce, who hails from the greater Cleveland area, is a Guardians fan, and the MLB has to be hoping the Guardians have a deep playoff run in them, and that Kelce and Swift will attend a game of two.
