2017 may already be the best year on record, we have irrelevant rock band Smash Mouth tweeting trash at Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

If that doesn’t constitute an A+ twitter beef, we may have ourselves an issue.

Smash Mouth’s twitter account tweeted at the Warriors big man after the team blew a substantial lead against the Memphis Grizzlies. The player that drew the 90’s rock band ire wasn’t any of the big time players like Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant. What a weird, weird world we live in.

If Green doesn’t respond, does this still mean that this is a twitter beef? Let’s declare it one, mostly because it’s fun. We need more crossover between sport stars and aging rock stars. It may be a niche market but it needs to be filled.

This isn’t the first time that Smash Mouth has gotten into a tiff with a culturally relevant entity. They tweeted at the Oakland Athletics and got burned last year. Here is the full exchange:

Twitter is a cool place and they say it gets colder. The takes are hot wait till you get older.
