On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors beat the Phoenix Suns 133-120 at home. While that score shows the Warriors cruising by the Suns, it doesn’t tell the whole story.

The Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns are playing in a regular season game during the 2016-2017 NBA season. The Suns have the ball on offense with around two minutes left in the third quarter.

Let the madness begin.

Okay let’s look at this sequence possession by possession.

PART 1: BOOKER BOOKS A TICKET HOME

Devin Booker is a good basketball player, but the Warriors are a team full of GREAT basketball players.

Despite being a rookie, Patrick McCaw is already a solid player with some hops. Booker works around McCaw and drives down the lane for what should be an easy layup, but McCaw makes sure that won’t happen.

McCaw FLIES in to swat away the layup attempt and keep the Warriors ahead 91-85 with 2:00 left in the third quarter.

PART 2: IGUODALA ISN’T A BALLA

After McCaw’s terrific block, Andre Iguodala secures the long defensive rebound. Iguodala is a solid veteran with a long history in the league who has a long history of terrific plays.

Sadly that game winner was a long time ago and Iguodala looked like a different player with 1:54 left in the third quarter.

The 32-year-old attempts to make a quasi-windmill layup and instead misses short and then isn’t able to grab his own rebound. As a result, Devin Booker soars in for the defensive board and seeks to avenge himself for a prior mistake.

PART 3: DURANT SAYS ‘THIS IS WHY YOU PAID ME’

Kevin Durant could’ve been on the Thunder, heck he could’ve been on the Celtics. However, instead of going back to the team he’s always known or just about any other team in the NBA, Durant went to the team that gave him the best chance to win: Golden State.

Since the beginning of this season, Durant has sought out to make his presence known and make sure Warriors fans know they are going to get what they (well, their owners) paid for.

Durant proves this with his block of Booker’s wide open layup with 1:47 left in the third quarter.

Shortly after the block, Stephen Curry emerges for the defensive rebound and just seconds later, he saves us all.

PART 4: THE STEPH HAS RISEN

Honestly, after all the ridiculous records he has set, players on opposing teams should be fined for leaving Steph Curry wide open. It’s almost as bad as giving Lionel Messi an open lane or throwing a pitch down the middle to Mike Trout.

Anyway, the Suns leave Curry wide open, and the rest is history. The 28-year-old drilled a DEEEEEEEEP three “FROM SAN FRANCISCO” – Chris Berman.

There’s not much else to say here. Steph Curry did what he does best, save us from ourselves.
