Could NBA star Trae Young seek a trade? One NBA insider predicted that the Atlanta Hawks star could vie to be traded from the team he’s played for since his career launched.
Bleacher Report NBA insider Chris Haynes reportedly believes that Young could request a trade soon. Haynes reported on Thursday about the Hawks star and a request that could loom. Haynes wrote:
“Rival executives in attendance at the NBA’s annual G League Winter Showcase are of the belief that Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young could be the next player on a rookie max extension to request a trade if the team doesn’t make inroads come postseason time.”
He later noted that the relationship between him and new Hawks GM Landry Fields would be worth a watch. The B/R writer wrote:
“This week, Atlanta ownership reassigned president Travis Schlenk—who drafted Young—to an adviser role. How the Hawks shape the roster around Young under general manager Landry Fields, the newly appointed front-office chief, will be monitored closely. A source told B/R that Young and Fields meet routinely and have a great relationship.”
Over the last few years, the former Oklahoma Sooner has become one of the best young superstars in the NBA. Only 24, the Hawks guard has been selected as a two-time NBA All-Star in his short career thus far.
He has averaged 25.3 points per game in his career and 27.9 in the 2022-23 season while playing a league-high 35.5 minutes per game. He also leads the league in assists per game with 9.7.
