Charles Barkley is taking heat for comments he made about fans choosing to listen to their hometown radio broadcast instead of the national TV announcers.

The “Inside the NBA” host thinks it’s stupid to turn the broadcast down and listen to the local radio feed.

“I would never turn on the radio and listen to the game,” Barkley said. “I think that’s the stupidest thing in the world.”

It’s not unheard of for even networks do do that. During past national championship games for both college football and college basketball, ESPN has broadcast with the hometown team’s radio feed.

A lot of fans would rather listen to that than the national broadcast. Barkley’s comments seem to have rubbed Golden State Warriors radio broadcaster Tim Roye the wrong way.

“It’s not the stupidest thing in the world,” Roye said (via TheSun.com). “The stupidest thing in the world is to listen to Charles and take anything he says as if it has any thought behind it.”

Harsh words aimed at an NBA legend and popular analyst, but Barkley is probably used to it by now. If Barkley gets wind of these comments, you better believe old Chuck won’t let them slide.
