The Golden State Warriors fell 117-110 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals to find themselves in a massive 3-1 hole in the series.
However, it doesn’t appear as if Steph Curry, who is dealing with a grade one hamstring injury, will be able to be the Warriors’ knight in shining armor and save the day, no matter how much he might want to.
“Even if I wanted to be Superman, I couldn’t,” Curry said, according to ESPN.
Curry’s words were a response to a comment made by his teammate, Draymond Green, who said that the team will have to keep the series alive without their leader, who also happens to be the greatest shooter in the history of the sport.
“No, we’re not going to Superman this thing,” Green said when asked if he expects Curry to try to push to come back, and if so, would Green be a part of that conversation.
“If he’s in a place where he can play, I’m sure he will. Him and Rick [Celebrini, Warriors vice president of player health and performance] and everybody will figure that out. But we don’t need [Curry to try to be] Superman.
“Got to play the long game. If he can, we know he will. But there’s no pressure. We’ve got to figure out how to win whether he plays or not.”
Now, the Warriors will have to find a way to gut things out with the Wolves long enough for Curry to make his return.
