After missing the playoffs this season, there was speculation that longtime head coach Steve Kerr and the organization would be parting ways. However, Kerr has signed an extension that will keep him in the Bay Area for at least a couple of seasons longer.
“This organization has meant so much to me for the last 12 years − from ownership to our players, our staff and our fans − and it’s an incredible privilege to be a part of something so special,” Kerr said after signing the deal. “I’m excited to keep competing with this group.”
However, not everyone on his staff will be back with him.
“The Warriors are losing their top two assistant coaches. Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse are departing the franchise, sources told ESPN. Their contracts expired and both are interested in pursuing head coaching opportunities,” ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported.

“People underestimate how much assistant coaches matter until respected names start leaving all at once.. it’s sad thing,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Not sure its the best move where the problem might be Kerr himself,” someone else added.
“Losing both Stotts and Stackhouse at once means some serious reshuffling before next season. Stotts’ offensive mind will be missed,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Kerr replaces Stotts and Stackhouse.
