Postgame press conferences are so often filled with robotic athletes giving boilerplate answers to stupid questions that it’s almost jarring to see a glimpse at something real.

This definitely counts. J.R. Smith went into great detail about the impact his parents have had on his life, and it was certainly a fitting, special moment on Father’s Day:

That’s real, right there. J.R. wasn’t the star of the series, but he had a few great games, hit a couple of huge shots, and for a journeyman player with a history of flaws both on and off the court, this is a great bit of redemption. It’s nice to see that he realizes that, too. Powerful stuff.
