The Golden State Warriors stunned the basketball world by signing Kevin Durant this offseason. JaVale McGee might not match Durant’s scoring output, but he could best him in Shaqtin’ A Fool appearances!
After losing both Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli during the offseason (and being greatly exposed by the Cavaliers in the painted area during the NBA Finals) the Warriors need to do something to help protect the rim. Golden State has turned to JaVale McGee in the hopes of addressing that issue according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
The Warriors need a rim protector and have chosen to give JaVale McGee an opportunity in training camp to fill that void, sources tell ESPN.

With only Zaza Pachulia and the injured Anderson Varaejo now the only recognized centers on the Warriors’ roster with NBA experience, there’s a decent chance McGee could make the team come the start of the season.
McGee played 34 games with the Dallas Mavericks last season, averaging 5.1 PPG and 3.9 RPG and was waived earlier this month. McGee’s time in Dallas was preceded by stints with the Wizards, Nuggets, and Sixers.
But McGee’s biggest contribution to the NBA is not in points or rebounds or blocks. By far, McGee is best known as being the star of his own personal Hall of Fame blooper reel. When it comes to the modern NBA player, JaVale McGee is the Michael Jordan of hilarious basketball fails and it’s not even close. That might even extend to the four major sports as well. Nobody has been as consistent in providing viral laughs like JaVale McGee. It’d be like Mark Sanchez giving us a buttfumble every other game.
Need proof? Here’s seven minutes all dedicated to McGee’s appearances on Shaqtin’ A Fool over the last five years.

Then there was the time McGee channeled his inner Andray Blatche and took over a blowout loss against the Chicago Bulls to get the one point necessary to achieve a triple double. After several misses, McGee finally got a dunk in the closing seconds… and a technical foul for hanging on the rim celebrating his triple double in the losing effort. Now we know where Kobe got his inspiration from in finishing his career!

And what about McGee attempting an in-game free throw line dunk… twice… even attempting one OVER A LIVE PLAYER!
I am six thousand times more excited to see JaVale McGee play with the Warriors than I am Kevin Durant. Maybe this is Steve Kerr’s way of trying to level out the Warriors’ karma for the upcoming season. Because honestly, who could hate a team that has JaVale McGee on it?
