Flint Tropics legend Jackie Moon stole the spotlight during the Golden State Warriors game at the Chase Center, but the team didn’t seem to mind.

Will Ferrell reprised the role Tuesday night, 14 years after he starred as Moon in the basketball comedy Semi-Pro and he just barely fit into the same basketball uniform. Moon showed off his talents during Golden State’s pregame warm-ups, draining a few jumpers and challenging Warriors superstar Klay Thompson on the court.

Adding to the bizarre scene was Alex Rodriguez gazing from the crowd, seemingly to give Ferrell’s performance his seal of approval.

Ferrell had curious timing with his decision to put on the short shorts one more time. HBO’s Winning Time premiered Sunday night, a dramatic miniseries depicting the 1980’s Los Angeles Lakers. Ferrell reportedly wanted to play Dr. Jerry Buss in the series, but director Adam McKay gave John C. Reilly the role. Perhaps Tuesday night was a way for the 54-year-old Ferrell to prove he’s still got game?

Moon didn’t make a box score contribution to the Warriors, but his presence appeared to at least light a fire under the team. Golden State beat the Los Angeles Clippers 112-97 to end their five-game losing skid.
