Angel Reese Caitlin Clark

Earlier this year, LSI Tigers women’s basketball star Angel Reese went absolutely viral for taunting Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark while leading the Tigers to the NCAA women’s basketball title over the Hawkeyes. But during a recent interview, Reese reveals at least one regret about that moment.

While Angel Reese clearly does not regret taunting Caitlin Clark – and Clark has no problem with Reese’s actions – the LSU star does wish that the actual game got more attention than the viral taunting incident.

“I’m so happy that we won the championship. I wish it was more talked about,” Reese said during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show, according to Ryan Morik of Fox News. “As much as they talked about the Caitlin situation, I wanted to talk about the national championship, because we worked just as hard. We put a lot of sweat and tears into that championship and people don’t realize that. It’s not easy to win a championship. So to be able to do that, it’s the best of both worlds. I’m happy the situation happened, but at the same time I’m a national champion, and I’m getting a ring.”

Reese paints a pretty brutal picture of the situation, revealing that the controversy between two players got more attention than a great game, and the sports world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

It’s an unfortunate truth, but it’s a reality she’s just going to have to deal with at this point.
