For months now, the college football world has been waiting to find out where Class of 2023 quarterback Arch Manning will commit. The No. 1 recruit in that class has been at the forefront of recruiting efforts by some of the biggest college football programs in the SEC and around the country. However, it certainly seems like his list has been narrowed down and a favorite could be emerging.

The Texas Longhorns have long been considered the slight favorite to land Peyton and Eli’s nephew. Head coach Steve Sarkisian’s reputation for developing quarterbacks and the ability to come in and help elevate the football program back to elite levels have looked very appealing. Manning visited Austin a few weeks back and even got the chance to meet with a couple of former Texas quarterbacks while watching spring practice.

However, Manning visited with the Alabama Crimson Tide this past weekend and it sounds like Nick Saban’s program may have won him over. Because afterward, On3 updated their “Recruiting Prediction Machine” to give the Tide a slight edge over the Longhorns for the first time.

“After visiting Athens, Austin, and Tuscaloosa the past few weekends, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Alabama a slight edge over Texas and Georgia to land Five-Star Plus+ QB Arch Manning…,” On3 Recruits tweeted.

The other school with good odds is the Georgia Bulldogs, whom Manning visited in mid-March and was said to have “loved.”

While other schools like Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida have been said to be in the running, Manning only scheduled spring visits so far to Texas, Georgia, and Bama, which tells you just about everything you need to know.

It’s unknown when Arch will make his college decision but he’s clearly narrowing things down. The idea of the most sought-after quarterback heading to Alabama might sound like a case of the rich getting richer, but don’t kid yourself into thinking that wasn’t always how this was going to play out.
