Quarterback Arch Manning 16 runs the ball as Newman takes on Lafayette Christian Academy in the LHSAA Div III semi finals. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021. Arch Manning Lca Vs Newman Football 4731

Is Arch Manning getting close to making an announcement about where he’ll play college football? No one knows for sure, but the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2023 recently made a move that signals…something. The highly touted quarterback officially joined Twitter and has been racking up some very interesting followers in the hours since.

Arch isn’t following anyone yet, not even his uncles Peyton or Eli, but he’s already got follows from Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, and the official Georgia Bulldogs football account. Looks like Lane Kiffin is slipping so far.

Manning visited Georgia two weekends ago and he “loved” his experience in Athens according to his high school football coach.

This past weekend he was in Austin to attend a Texas Longhorns spring practice, where he also got to see a couple of former Texas quarterbacks as well.

Manning is visiting the Alabama Crimson Tide this upcoming weekend, so perhaps we can expect Nick Saban to give him a follow once that gets closer.

Those three schools have been considered the favorites to land the QB prospect, with Texas getting a slight advantage. Via the State of Recruiting podcast, Horns247 recruiting editor Mike Roach said it looks like this past weekend’s visit may have helped them cement things even further.

“I think they’ve done a fantastic job there. I think they keep needing to show him just fit and all those sorts of things, and I think they need to let (the city of) Austin kind of take over,” said Roach. “Arch does really love Austin and all the things there are to do there. Let Austin stand on its own. And it sounds like they kind of accomplished all those things this weekend.”

Of course, you never know how these things will pan out until Manning makes his announcement and eventually signs on the dotted line. But until then, you can now expect anything he does (or doesn’t do) with his new Twitter account to get magnified and analyzed for any clues about his impending decision.
