NC State and Virginia Tech played college baseball in a blizzard on Saturday in Blacksburg, VA. There was eventually a delay, but — for some reason — they tried to play through these suboptimal conditions for a little while.

Well, the decision to keep playing led to an amazing moment, at least!

With the bases loaded, two outs, and the game scoreless in the bottom of the third inning, Virginia Tech’s Carson DeMartini decided to take advantage of the miserable conditions and catch NC State off guard.

After Virginia Tech swung and missed at a 1-1 pitch, the NC State catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher, and DeMartini took off. When the pitcher threw the ball back to the catcher, it was too late. DeMartini stole home.

That’s sneaky.

Virginia Tech came away with an 8-2 victory over NC State.
