Gallagher-Iba Arena is already sold out for Saturday’s tilt between Oklahoma State and No. 1 Kansas, and Cowboys coach Brad Underwood texted Bill Self to inform him — you know, just because he’s a good colleague and wants his opponent to be prepared.

“I know it’s sold out,” Self told media Thursday. “Underwood texted me this morning to remind me it’s sold out.”

It should be a raucous environment as Gallagher-Iba is one of college basketball’s best atmospheres when full.

Self also said Underwood is his pick for Big 12 Coach of the Year. After starting 10-8 and 0-6 in the Big 12, Oklahoma State has won 10 of its last 12 games to put itself safely in the NCAA Tournament field. The only two losses during that stretch came by three points each to Baylor and Iowa State.

Underwood and Self go back several decades. When Self was a player at Oklahoma State in the 80s, he actually showed Underwood around during his recruiting visit.

Underwood then committed to Kansas State.
