Earlier this month, Oklahoma star quarterback Caleb Williams announced that he was entering the transfer portal after head coach Lincoln Riley decided to take the head coaching gig at USC.

Williams had a standout freshman season at Oklahoma, throwing for 1,912 yards with 21 touchdowns and 4 interceptions after taking over for then quarterback Spencer Rattler mid-way through the season.

The frontrunner for Williams has been a return to play for Riley at USC, and it appears that is becoming more and more likely.

According to On3’s Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton, Williams has narrowed down his search to USC and Wisconsin.

Hamilton also added that Williams could make his decision as early as next week.

This is following USC quarterback Jaxson Dart’s decision to transfer to Ole Miss, who was also reportedly among the possible landing spots for Williams before Dart’s decision.

While Hamilton added that Wisconsin is very much still in the mix for Williams, it makes all too much sense for Williams to be going to USC. However, with these reports, there is an increasing number of people who believe that Wisconsin could be the perfect landing spot.

USC also lost quarterback Kedon Slovis in the transfer portal, so there is certainly an opening for a reunion between Williams and Riley for USC.

It seems like both are great landing spots who could be just a quarterback away from being a true contender going forward.
