The Central Arkansas Bears made a bit of college softball history. They just scored the second-most runs in a single inning in an NCAA Tournament game since at least the turn of the century!

Central Arkansas is piling it on Long Island… and then some. The Bears and LIU, playing in the Tuscaloosa Regional, took the field on Saturday afternoon. But the Bears decided to let Long Island know how this game would go right from the get-go.

UCA pounded Long Island into submission as they plated across a whopping 13 runs! And as it turns out, that was a history-making feat. According to the Atlantic Sun Softball Twitter account, “13 runs scored in the first inning ties for the 2nd most runs scored in an inning in the @NCAASoftball Tournament since 2000!!”

Central Arkansas’ response? “The more you know.”

Needless to say, this is an absurd performance and one worthy of the history-making designation. The Bears are no-doubt about to go into the next elimination game as LIU is about to get bounced after that showing.

It is a tough pill for LIU to swallow, but UCA has proven to be one of the best mid-major teams in the country. They upset in-state rival Arkansas during the regular season and have made their presence felt so far. They are likely to face Alabama, the hosts of the Tuscaloosa Regional, should they go through.

The sports world and college softball fans had lots to say about the huge performance.
