Oakland University Baseball coach celebrates a grand slam in hilarious and slightly painful fashion. A coach’s hilarious and thankfully not too painful celebration in a college baseball game from Thursday has gone viral.

Baseball, like all sports, is generally a young man’s game. And while that usually refers to the players, a college baseball highlight on Thursday shows that sometimes, it can apply to coaches as well.

The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies hosted the Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons on Thursday. Purdue took a 7-1 lead and while Oakland had chipped away, the Mastadons still led 9-6 while Lucas Loos came to the plate for the Golden Grizzlies in the bottom of the seventh inning with the bases loaded.

Loos hit a grand slam but off the bat, the runners on base weren’t sure if the ball was going out or not. Third base coach Brian Nelson was also not sure, as he immediately began waving his arms frantically, telling the runners to keep going.

Then the ball went over the ball. Nelson leaped in the air, doing a 180. He then fell to the ground in the splits position. Fortunately, he popped right back right up.

Nelson, who still appears to be a relatively young man, had some fun with it. He quote tweeted the video with the caption, “I keep trying to tell the guys we gotta stay on an even keel… hope they are taking notes!”

His wife also saw the humor, saying “Loos is good but let’s get @CoachNelly11 on @sctop10 for that excitement and recovery😂😂😂”

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were not the only ones to laugh at the situation.
