The South Carolina Gamecocks have played like one of the best teams in the nation this season. The 11th-ranked Gamecocks are embattled in a weekend series with the 22nd-ranked Missouri Tigers. It didn’t take long for SC to get on the board and it was thanks to their star freshman slugger.

Ethan Petry blasted off with an absolute moonshot home run in the first inning. The two-run blast was incredibly impressive considering the pitch was nearly at his eyes.

“AT HIS EYES!!!” the Gamecock Baseball Twitter account exclaimed.

College baseball dingers always sound better because of the “ping!” of the aluminum bat. This blast s a particularly impressive one based on location. Not only for where it came in but for where it landed. The strength needed to pull that off is incredible. So, kudos to Petry for pulling that off.

Petry is getting used to hitting home runs! That was his 11th homer of the 2023 season.

Many raved about the impressive homer after it was hit.

Loggers Stats and Info said one o their signees was “LOCKED IN!!!” Hard to disagree with that assessment.

Friday Starters pointed out that South Carolina baseball has already hit more home runs on March 25 than they did all last season.

Famously Garnet Sports was fired up about the home run.

“Holy Ethan Petry,” Collyn Taylor of Gamecock Central tweeted after the moonshot home run.
