An epic finish in the NCAA Super Regionals just captivated college baseball fans everywhere!

Nationally-seeded Virginia trailed ACC rival Duke in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series. The Blue Devils held a slim 5-4 lead over the touted Cavaliers and were one out away from putting UVA to bed. With two runners on, Jake Gelof sent a ball out for a ride.

But Duke outfielder Tyler Albright had other ideas. The ball led Albright all the way to the wall, but Albright took it back to rob a home run and an epic walk-off!

It doesn’t get much more dramatic than that to end a game! It looked like a home run off the bat, so Gelof’s reaction tracks. But Albright’s sensational home run robbery follows a long line of recent Web Gems across all leagues of baseball.

The win puts the Blue Devils suddenly in the driver’s seat. They have a 1-0 lead over the Cavaliers in the Supers, meaning if they win the next game, then it’s on to the College World Series. Duke hasn’t made the CWS since 1961. So, the Blue Devils are now on the cusp of a historic victory. Should they reach Omaha, they can point back to this catch as one of the biggest moments that led them there.

After the incredible catch, college baseball fans had lots to say about it.
