Maryland basketball players Jared Nickens, Damonte Dodd and Jaylen Brantley turned back the clock in trying to find college basketball’s next dance craze. The trio posted videos on Instagram showing them dance to Ghost Town DJ’s ‘My Boo,’ in an attempt to make their moves sweep the nation.
Their dancing is.. uh.. interesting.

The song choice is a curious one. ‘My Boo’ is Ghost Town DJ’s only single and it was released in 1996, which is before some of Maryland’s players were even born. It’s a deep cut, and unless the basketball players are music connoisseurs, I’d bet they initially heard the song in the a sample on the Ciara song ‘Body Party,’ featuring Future.
The dance moves have made their way to other colleges, as players from Villanova, Virginia Tech and Marquette have all posted videos doing similar dance moves to the Ghost Town DJ’s song.
I don’t get it, but it’s hard to say the videos aren’t entertaining. Will the dance become the next ‘Whip and Nae Nae?’ Probably not. But something tells me plenty of more college athletes will make videos doing their own interpretations of the dance.
