The second edition of the 2021 College Football Playoff rankings were released Tuesday night on ESPN (you can see the initial CFP rankings here).
Georgia (1) and Alabama (2) remain in the top-two, but Michigan State falls from No. 3 to No. 7 after losing to Purdue.
Oregon moves up No. 4 to No. 3, and Ohio State moves up from No. 5 to No. 4.
Cincinnati moves up from No. 6 to No. 5 after narrowly avoiding disaster vs Tulsa.
Michigan is ranked sixth while Michigan State is ranked seventh, despite the Spartans beating the Wolverines two weeks ago.

They debated Michigan-Michigan State two days after Michigan State beat Michigan. Amazing content. https://t.co/6jaLbp0LNM

Michigan over Michigan State seems weird, but remember they haven’t played yet

If only there was some way to settle this Michigan-Michigan State dispute on the field
— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) November 10, 2021
okay, I get it now, Michigan > Michigan State is just the committee testing out “head-to-head isn’t that important to us” so they can put 11-1 Notre Dame in over Cincinnati

Ranking Michigan over Michigan State: weird but whatever, they've played more than one game each
Ranking Michigan over Michigan State while also ranking Oregon over Ohio State: lmao this is tremendous content

As Mr. I Don’t Care About Head-to-Head That Much, I’m fine with Michigan being ahead of Michigan State in theory. But that doesn’t leave much rationale for ranking Oregon ahead of Ohio State, does it?

Just throw the sport in the trash, CFP committee. This is embarrassing. You're telling the world we aren't about winning and losing. We're a pageant contest.

They need to bring back the 24-hour college basketball marathon and release the CFP rankings at 4 am between Hawaii-Idaho and Maine-Austin Peay
