Florida State softball Florida State softball beat Louisville 6-4 on Friday, May 5, win ACC regular season title for the first time since 2019

Florida State capped off a thrilling game Saturday afternoon with an epic walk-off.

A day after clinching their first regular season ACC title since 2019, the 3rd-ranked Seminoles faced the Louisville Cardinals in the second game of a weekend series.

The two teams battled deep into extra innings as they extended the game into the 11th. But the 11th inning is when Devyn Flaherty took over. Florida State’s senior shortstop made an excellent play to rob the Cardinals of a would-be hit to lead off the inning.

Then, she called game.

Flaherty collected an epic walk-off two-run home run to end the thrilling softball game.

“DEVYN FLAHERTY SEND US HOME!!!” the Florida State Softball account tweeted. “THAT’S A WALK-OFF HOME RUN.”

FSU’s official softball account continued to boast about the huge walk-off 2-run shot on social media. Flaherty’s 11th-inning home run was her first of the season and it couldn’t have come a better time for the junior infielder, who helped the Seminoles win their 12th straight game.

Reactions from the college softball world poured in from social media after FSU’s epic walk-off:

“All they do is win!!!” tweeted Jeff Culhane, the Director of Broadcasting for the Seminoles Sports Network.

“You just believe this team will come through every time,” said Trey Meadows. “Their belief is contagious.”

“She did it with the glove and the bat in the 11th inning!!” Cliff Whitfield tweeted.
