Michigan is off to a 2-0 start in the college football season, and deception may be a part of the reason (well, that and a steady diet of cupcakes through the first two weeks of the year). Jim Harbaugh is a gamer, so he chooses not to put out a depth chart of any kind ahead of games the way just about every other college football program and NFL team will on a weekly basis.

This week Michigan faces Colorado, and the Buffs decided to even the score in the depth chart department by creating their own fictional roster of superstars.

“Since this week’s opponent, Michigan, does not issue a depth chart, our coaches felt we should refrain from making one public this week as well,” a note on the top of Colorado’s weekly depth chart reads. “So in the interim, we had a little fun.”

The depth chart is made entirely of a mix of fictional or legendary figures, with each position on the depth chart having its own tailored-theme. The references range from pop culture to sports and covers decades of references. But don’t worry. If one reference floats over your head, Colorado was kind enough to include a key to help you identify the specific references.

Colorado’s starting offensive line of Eric Cartman, Bill Lumbergh, Jim Otto, Gillette Sure, and Butch Cassidy, should be a solid wall of protection for quarterback Elmer Fudd and should create running lanes for Steve Hanson or his brothers Jack and Jeff.

Let’s just hope Colorado’s upset bid doesn’t come down to a college kicker moment, because Scotty Smalls is there to let you down and leave you saying “You’re killing me, Smalls!”
