The Duke Blue Devils have surprised many in the college softball world this season.
Thus far, the Blue Devils are one of the top teams in a loaded ACC. Duke has stood up to the test with Clemson, Florida State, and Virginia Tech all achieving great things this year. But the Blue Devils are prone to making history themselves as it turns out.
On Tuesday, Duke Softball announced they had reached their highest RPI ranking in program history.

Duke is 6th in the new RPI rankings. With that ranking, they are the top-ranked team in the ACC in the RPI.
The only teams ranked ahead of the Dukies right now are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Stanford, and LSU. Significant company, to say the very least.
The Blue Devils are 31-8 on the season, totaling the second-most wins in the ACC behind FSU (32-7). They are a gaudy 10-1 on the road, trailing Virginia Tech’s 11 road wins this season. Meanwhile, Duke is 12-4 on the road and 9-3 in neutral-site games.
Duke appeared in the NCAA Super Regionals last season in just their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. They made it for the first time in 2021 after shockingly winning the ACC Tournament. As it turns out, they just don’t seem to mind making history at all.
