Earlier this year former USC and LSU football players Bryce Dixon and Trey Lealaimatafao were suspected of a string of robberies in Los Angeles over a span of 48 hours. On Friday, Lealamimatafao pleaded no contest to felony charges and was sentenced to six years behind bars as a result.

According to My News LA, Lealaimatafao pleaded no contest to two charges of second-degree robbery and one for carjacking. Dixon and a third man had already entered their no contest pleas for similar charges and were also sentenced to six years in jail.

LSU removed Lealaimatafao from the program in June 2015 due to his involvement in an off-campus fight. He was also previously arrested for stealing a bike in 2014 and injured his hand after punching a window in an LSU weight room. Given his track record, it was only a matter of time before the law caught up to him it seemed, which is a shame considering the kind of football talent he has squandered as a result of his off-field behavior.

The same can be said for Dixon as well. Dixon was expelled from USC last year as well following allegations of sexual misconduct with a female athletic trainer. He was able to re-enroll at USC later but has not been allowed to rejoin the football program.

Here’s hoping the time behind bars is a major dose of reality for both of these young men, because it is never too late to turn things around. Hopefully they come out of jail in six years (or sooner) as better-behaved people ready to prove they have learned some serious lessons.
