The Nebraska Cornhuskers got their first win in the much-hyped Scott Frost era with a 53-28 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday in Lincoln.

Nebraska entered the game with a record of 0-6 and eight straight losses going back to last season, and the losing streak had gotten so embarrassing that a local bar decided to poke fun at it with a free beer fridge that would be unlocked if once the Huskers actually won a game. If this free beer fridge move sounds familiar, it’s probably because Bud Light just did this across Cleveland for the Browns snapping their losing streak.

Barley’s in Council Bluffs, IA (located an hour from Lincoln) recently locked a fridge of full of Budweisers.

And had this message on the side of the fridge:

“In the spirit of being Iowa Nice, Barley’s is offering a gift to our neighbor who is hurting. Their once proud program can’t seem to win a game. When the Big Red ends the 2nd longest losing streak in the nation, enjoy some ‘Frosty’ cold beverages on us. #GBR #IowaNice”

Well, after the Huskers finally won on Saturday, the fridge was unlocked.

People certainly love their free beer.
