There are few plays in football more embarrassing than easing in for a touchdown only to have the ball not cross the goal line with you. If you don’t believe me, just ask former Utah Utes and current Baltimore Ravens wide receiver/returner, Kailen Clay.

After all, the man knows a thing or two about embarrassing plays at the goal line thanks to his infamous touchdown-turned-fumble for six points against Oregon back in 2014. Just in case you don’t remember:

It had to feel like deja vu for Clay while watching the Florida State-Ole Miss game on Monday night. That’s because FSU’s star running back Dalvin Cook coughed up the ball heading to a sure touchdown himself.

While Cook’s fumble was bad… it wasn’t nearly as bad as watching Clay celebrate like he made the greatest play since the immaculate reception. At least Cook’s blunder resulted in eventual points for his team, as the Seminoles were able to get a field goal after the fumble went out of bounds.

Still, that didn’t stop Clay from having flashbacks upon seeing that play happen on Monday night:

We’re not sure anything is worse that what you did Clay, but a running back going full speed and coughing up the football without anyone touching him… that is pretty bad as well.

Oh, and there’s the little detail of what happened in these two different games. See, Clay’s 14-point swing was a turning point in Oregon beating down Utah 51-27, while Cook’s was part of FSU’s incredible comeback and 33 unanswered points swing in a victory over Ole Miss.
