Alabama football doesn’t rebuild, they reload. This upcoming season is no different. One of the ways the Crimson Tide is able to continue to be successful despite losing so many players to the NFL is through recruiting and the transfer portal.

Alabama gained one important piece to this upcoming season through the transfer portal and that’s former Georgia wide receiver, Jermaine Burton.

Despite winning a national championship with the Dawgs in January, Burton decided to transfer to Alabama anyway for what he has said was a family decision.

“I was just trying to make the best decision I can for me and my family,” he said. “I couldn’t thank this program enough for the way they welcomed me and brought me in and treated me like one of their own. At this point right now I’m just focused on this team and what we can do better.”

Burton caught 26 passes for almost 500 yards and 5 touchdowns last season while averaging 19.1 yards per catch. He is expected to be a downfield threat to replace Jameson Williams, who played for the Tide last year and was drafted in the first round by the Detriot Lions. Williams was also a transfer, coming over from Ohio State.

Burton’s work ethic has already made an impression on Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who said that he was the most consistent wideout on the team so far.
