Angry neighbors in Iowa City are suing to prevent a couple from building a 7,500 square foot house that will resemble Kinnick Stadium, the home of the beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, according to KCRG.

The lawsuit was filed by the Neighbors of Manville Heights Association (rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?), and has requested an injunction to the Iowa City Board of Adjustment to block construction of the home and repeal the construction permits for it. They’re concerned about the home’s size, potential for big parties as well as fire safety, traffic and potential collateral damage issues, though the board said there were no issues with the home’s construction.

“I suspect that the final interpretation of the law is not in the hands of this board. It will be adjudicated elsewhere. The city insists that it is obeying the law, others will resolve that,” Board Chairman Larry Baker said during the meeting.

Reed and Sandy Carlson plan to build their new house to be a pretty close replica of Iowa football’s home, complete with brick siding and a mock press box. The same Board of Adjustment was split 2-2 on a decision to allow construction to go forward back about 10 days ago.

Go Iowa Awesome.
