New Mexico State Aggies trailed the Grand Canyon Lopes 75-74 on Thursday night in Las Cruces, NM, when Grand Canyon’s Trey Dreschel missed a free throw with 3.3 seconds left.

The Aggies’ Johnny McCants got the rebound and dribbled just shy of half-court, where he drained a buzzer-beater for the 77-75 win.

This really is an incredible shot, with a pretty nice shooting stroke from that deep and no need for the backboard:

McCants, a sophomore, had only made one three-pointer in his two seasons with New Mexico State before that one.

New Mexico State is off to a 12-4 start after a tremendous 2017-18 season (28-6 record) that included a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
