No. 17 Utah took a commanding 19-3 lead into halftime against No. 22 Northwestern on New Year’s Eve at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. And after the third quarter, Northwestern had a 31-20 lead.

Wait, what?

After being dominated for two quarters, Northwestern outscored Utah *28-0* in the third quarter.

Northwestern took the lead on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Clayton Thorson… to 296-pound offensive lineman Trey Klock. It was the first reception of the senior’s collegiate career, and he certainly made the most of it:

Trick plays to offensive linemen happen on occasion, but you rarely see passes downfield to them.
