LSU Tigers gymnast Olivia Dunne has become a nationally known superstar thanks to social media and NIL.

Her ability to create headlines just by making a TikTok video has certain drawbacks, however.

Dunne revealed in a recent interview that she no longer attends in-person classes at LSU “for safety reasons.”

“There were some scares in the past, and I just want to be as careful as possible,” Dunne told Elle. “I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.”

The article explains that Dunne often gets unwanted attention at any public gathering. At LSU’s opening meet of the 2023 season at the University of Utah, a large group of young male fans disrupted the competition with their chants for her. There were also reports that some of the gymnasts there were harassed by the men who showed up to watch Dunne.

The gymnast was also mobbed when she appeared at the College World Series to root for the LSU baseball team.

Dunne told Elle that she wants to try to keep her private life separate from what she does for social media.

Instead of attending classes, Dunne says she takes classes and trains during the day before creating content for social media at night. She is currently majoring in interdisciplinary studies and is on the academic honor roll. So even while she’s raking in a lot of money with NIL deals, she’s also putting in the work for her degree.
