Mascots are there for our amusement, but UCLA’s mascot seemingly crossed a line in the eyes of the Pac-12. In a game this week against Oregon, the Bruin mascot was caught mooning the Ducks underneath the basket.

In all honesty, it was pretty funny, but the Pac-12 was not amused by this act.

That led to a bit of a scolding from the Pac-12 offices about the behavior of the UCLA mascot.

First of all, please do not put “gate” on the end of every little infraction out there. It’s just lazy and unoriginal at this point. Second of all, c’mon Pac-12, have a sense of humor. It’s not as if the mascot pulled down its actual mascot pants and mooned the opponent with a human butt, right? We live in an age where mascots don’t even wear pants, for crying out loud.

Did MLB have a talk with the Phillies when the Phanatic did this?

Whoa there, Phanatic…

But this does give us a chance to remember one of the best all-time fake moonings, and I’m not talking about those conspiracy theories about the moon landing. Randy Moss remains the undisputed No. 1.

Maybe Joe Buck is a Pac-12 employee.
