The Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the most prestigious college football programs in the nation under head coach Ryan Day.
Day joined Ohio State back in 2018 and has been extremely impressive during his four-year tenure at the program, currently holding a 34-4 record.
While the football program has always been a staple of Ohio State in recent years, the basketball program has also picked it up in recent years, making the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five seasons under men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann.
Reports have emerged regarding both Ohio State coaches on Wednesday that Day and Holtmann have agreed to contract extensions to stay with the school for the foreseeable future.

Ohio State’s Chris Holtmann signs a 3-year extension through 2027-28 season, per school. Will make $3.5 million per year.
Ohio State is 107-56 in his five seasons. Has taken the Buckeyes to NCAA tourney in four with tourney canceled in 2020.

Holtmann’s deal will keep him with the Buckeyes throughout the 2027-28 college basketball season for $3.5 million per year.
Day agreed to a deal in 2020 which made his annual salary $7.6 million per year, and that will now increase to a whopping $9.5 million per year and will keep him at Ohio State until at least the 2028 football season.
The college sports world has certainly taken notice of these moves, and there are many mixed reactions around the program after these decisions.
Much of the discussion around Day’s contract extension is positive, with many believing it is well deserved considering his impressive resume while at the program.

On the other hand, there are some out there that believe that it may have been a bit early for Ohio State to extend Holtmann.
Wish our basketball program would start to have higher standards. https://t.co/sHTDOEsLmr

Less enthusiastic about this one.
Holtmann has been a great recruiter, but there needs to be SOME postseason success. And not a stretch of every season that the team just stinks. https://t.co/AEIxnAiJSJ

Why???? Seriously is there a demand for this guy? I don’t get it https://t.co/W55cdOcdFg

Holtmann has been making the NCAA Tournament often but hasn’t had a deep postseason run during his tenure.
Regardless, both of these contract extensions will certainly give Ohio State stability for the future within both its football and basketball programs going forward.
