Some people think fans storming the field is too dangerous and should therefore not be allowed. But you know what else is dangerous? Being punched in the face by a security guard!
A security guard in Houston was indicted Wednesday on a misdemeanor assault charge for striking a fan who was trying to join the on-field celebration following the University of Houston’s clinching of the American Athletic Conference back in December, according to the Houston Press.
In various videos of the incident, Derrick Hicks can be seen grabbing a fan, lifting him in the air, then later hitting him twice while he was on the ground.

Hicks appeared to be the most violent guard, but certainly not the only one toeing the line of what is acceptable in preventing someone from storming the field. The Harris County district attorney is still investigating other guards who were on the field and part of this mini-melee.
Some fans were able to make it on the field following today's win. The rest of Coogs fans? Not so fast. #abc13 pic.twitter.com/nYTUezcXW8

With hundreds of fans running on to the field, randomly selecting and beating up individuals seems like an odd and unproductive approach to security. Punching one of those fans in the face seems even odder.
