The Texas Longhorns were able to breeze past their Week 1 matchup against Louisiana Monroe, but things will be much more difficult in Week 2 against No.1 Alabama.

Despite being 20-point underdogs, one Texas player believes that they are prepared for what is coming from the Alabama offense this weekend.

Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown discussed the team’s difficult matchup on Wednesday and revealed that he believes the Longhorns are prepared due to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s prior history as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.

I’m excited about it, going into this game, especially knowing the history and the last teams these teams played each other and the history of it,” Overshown told 247 Sports on Wednesday. “We’ve been going against Alabama’s offense since Sark got here, so watching our offense is like watching Alabama’s offense. But now, seeing Alabama’s players do it … I’d say I’ve been watching film since early summer.”

Even though Sarkisian was Alabama’s offensive coordinator from 2019-2020, dealing with the NFL-caliber athletes that Alabama puts on the field, including star quarterback Bryce Young, is a whole different monster from what Texas’s offense can do.

If Alabama needed any type of motivation heading into this game, these comments from Overshown will certainly do the trick. Regardless, it should be very interesting to see how a program like Texas will fare in their matchup against what is widely considered the cream of the crop in Alabama.
