The 2023 college baseball season begins this weekend, in case you missed it. The Texas Tech Red Raiders found a way to make noise on the first day of the action and not just because of the on-field results.

Texas Tech, predicted to finish third in the Big XII this season, defeated Gonzaga in their opener, 8-4. First baseman Gavin Kash blasted two home runs to help carry the Red Raiders to victory. One of Kash’s home runs got plenty of attention, but not just because of how far it went. No, because of how the team celebrated it.

You’ll note in the video, which Texas Tech Baseball provided, that the Red Raider bullpen reacted to the home run in a unique way. The Red Raider pitchers celebrated the long ball as they jumped up on the railing of the outfield fence. All together at once.

This is certainly one of the more unique celebrations you’ll find. College baseball and softball have always found a way to have fun. If their contemporary in the big leagues took a page out of their book, we’d probably all have significantly more fun. But I guess that’s what the college game is for right?

On top of the unique college baseball celebration, many reacted as you’d expect to it. Which is to say, laughs were had.
