Thursday night’s college basketball rivalry slate of North Carolina-Duke and UCLA-Oregon certainly lived up to the hype. However, it was hard to anticipate a major cheerleading accident.

During a break in the action of the game between the Bruins and Ducks, a poor UCLA cheerleader had not one, but two falls in the matter of one TV timeout. First, she had a hard fall during a cheerleading routine. And then a guy trying to carry her off the floor tripped… dropping her to the floor again:

Yikes. This poor gal. You can’t make up that much bad luck in such a short amount of time.

As you can see, the ESPN crew got all of the action. This even included an injury update from sideline reporter Molly McGrath:

Not that this is a laughing matter at all, but who better to have handled this situation than Bill Walton? His line of lighting a candle for this girl had me rolling. Especially based on the fact McGrath just said the girl walked off on her own power. We can only hope Walton lights a candle on live TV in an upcoming telecast.
