The UNC Greensboro Spartans are going to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. UNC Greensboro took down the Mercer Bears 69-61 on Monday night to win the SoCon Championship. And the way the game ended seemed rather meaningless to most viewers, but was significant to some.

With UNC Greensboro leading by that same score, Spartans’ Keyshaun Langley missed a breakaway dunk with 10.4 seconds remaining. After Mercer then missed a shot, UNC Greensboro rebounded the ball and dribbled out the clock.

As multiple of our commenters on Twitter pointed out, UNC Greensboro’s point total over/under was between 69.5 and 70.5 at sportsbooks. So anybody that took UNC Greensboro to score at least 70 or 71 points lost their bet on this wide open dunk (that could’ve just been a layup too, of course).

And as another commenter pointed out, Mercer was a 5.5-point underdog, so their missed three at the end was huge for betting purposes too.

A rather uneventful basketball finish surely had a lot of bettors out there screaming and throwing things.
