The Utah Utes softball team just earned their first trip to the Women’s College World Series since 1994!

Utah defeated San Diego State in the Super Regionals in Salt Lake City to punch their ticket to OKC. It’s the first time in nearly 30 years that the Utes will compete for the NCAA Softball Championship in the WCWS.

As you might expect, the long-awaited return to the event was met with huge fanfare.

The Utes’ Softball account posted how the game ended. It was pandemonium in SLC when Utah recorded the final out.

After the game, Utah was ready to “party like it’s 1994.” The team tweeted several victory photographs, including head coach Amy Hogue getting hit with a water cooler bath.

The Utes also posted a clip of Hogue getting hit with the water cooler bath!

The Utah Football team, who’ve collected a few championships the last few years, showed their appreciation for the Utes softball team.

The Pac-12 was ready to celebrate one of their own heading to the WCWS!

And of course, the fans were ready to react to the big win too.

The Utes softball team will have their hands full as the Women’s College World Series field is littered with powers. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Washington are just some of the teams who’ve made it into the WCWS field.

The big event in Oklahoma City begins on June 1.
