College rivalries can be incredibly entertaining, but they often bring out the worst in fan behavior. Like, to a mind-numbingly stupid degree.
Some fans blur the line between rivalry and idiocy. For example, someone decided it would be a good idea to spray paint multiple phrases such as #Fail State, Hotty Toddy, and Rebs across Mississipi State’s campus.

Nothing says rivalry like committing crimes!

The phrases are all references to the Mississippi State/Ole Miss rivalry. Considering “Rebs” was written in red spray paint, it’s easy to guess that it was either an Ole Miss student or supporter at fault. Though it could have been a Mississippi State student who just wanted to vandalize something while avoiding suspicion.
College is a crazy time, after all.

There are always consequences to idiocy, of course. As pictured above, custodial and maintenance workers have to spend their Saturday, scrubbing off stupid phrases. That doesn’t impact the rivalry at all, it just ruins someone’s day.
It’s dumb. Mississippi has a bit of catching up to do on the “dumb SEC rivalry behavior scale”, of course, since this didn’t involve poisoning any trees. Or setting them on fire.
