After not scoring a point all game, Virginia sophomore Darius Thompson banked in a crazy buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the Cavaliers a stunning comeback 72-71 road victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

While the shot is awesome, how No. 11 Virginia got to that moment is even more incredible. The Cavaliers were down 10 points with 1:23 left, and seven points with 20 seconds left (and Wake Forest had the ball). Virginia scored 18 points in the final 80 seconds!

The Cavaliers came into the game ranked as the No. 11 team in the country, but would’ve fallen to 0-4 in ACC road games had they lost.
“We really needed to go out here and prove that we could get another road win,” said Virginia senior forward Anthony Gill. “It was big for us, not only for the outside world, but for our own confidence.”
“It lightens us up a lot,” said Thompson, who made his only shot attempt of the game. “Everybody was talking in the locker room, like man the road trip back would have been long if we would have lost. Hopefully that road game carries us over and hopefully we can get more (road) wins.”
